Night Time Routine

*The following post is sponsored by Refinery 29 & Estee Lauder. All opinions are my own!

For as long as I can remember I've always had a routines in my life. It's what really keeps me centered and my life in order, especially the more hectic my schedule gets. I can remember being 15 years old growing up in Florida and being sure to put SPF on my face every single day just to avoid wrinkles in the future. I can't stress enough how important it is to adopt a skincare regiment that's right for you, especially a night time one. I love night time routine's because sleep is so important and how I wake up really sets the tone for the rest of my day. Just because I had a good night's sleep, doesn't mean I always wake up looking like I did the day before because I didn't have a nighttime routine.

I remember my mom going to department stores when I was a kid and getting products from the Estee Lauder counters. I love Estee Lauder because they have such an amazing array of serums and products that work so well with anyone at any age. This week I incorporated Estee Lauder's advanced night repair products and incorporated them into what I normally do on a regular night. Most days this week I had make up on because I had back-to-back photo shoots. As soon as I got back home each day, I used the Night Repair Micro-Cleansing Foam which helps remove make up and pollution from the skin. L.A. can sometimes feel like walking in a giant cloud of smog, well actually, I more than likely am.

My favorite thing was the Recovery Power Foil Mask. Most masks I've used before don't really cover your entire face but Estee's foil mask comes in two separate pieces. You first apply the top half over your face and then the lower half so it covers everything without lifting off your nose like most masks do. As soon as I took it off, my skin instantly looked less dull, brighter, and more even.

I'm part Middle Eastern so my dark circles and sunken eyes are pretty much genetic. Majority of my life I've been trying to make them less noticeable. Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum went on super smoothly and felt very lightweight. Some creams can feel heavy around the eye, but this one wasn't.

Your routine may be slightly different than mine but one thing is for sure - our bodies heal the most when we're sleeping so why not prepare ourselves for it? I feel better when my skin looks healthier so be sure to drink plenty of water and find the right night time routine for you. I hope this helps!

In the wind

"Every time you state what you want or believe, you're the first to hear it. It's a message to both you and others about what you think is possible. Don't put a ceiling on yourself." -Oprah

Jr, Shevah, and I took a mini road trip out to the Poppy Reserves last weekend and it was so gorgeous. We decided to shoot a few pictures and they came out looking like a desktop background. In the first picture, I'm wearing a satin like tunic as a dress from Marina Rinaldi who makes super stunning pieces. The brown mini dress in the last few pictures are from my By Nadia line.

“It isn’t what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about.” Dale Carnegie

I love that quote from Dale Carnegie. I've read many of his books from How to Win Friends and Influence People to How to Stop Worrying and Start Living. It really helped me a few years back when I was at a lower point in my life. Lately, I've been having those feelings again. Two times a year or so I get in this really weird funk where I feel agitated and don't feel like myself. It almost feels like when I'm in one place for too long I feel like leaving. I get bored pretty quickly and if I'm not working constantly, keeping my schedule busy, or traveling, I feel stuck in one place. I love that quote so much because it really is true that your thoughts set the tone for many things in life and how you perceive your day. It's been helping me through this time. On another note, I did a little shoot in my Amina dress from By Nadia! Hope you guys have an amazing week and keep your thoughts positive like I'm trying to.

All black look

Last week I went to a Pretty Little Things Event and decided to wear this to it. I shot a few pictures beforehand since I was casually looking cute. Side note: I can't stop listening to Kendrick's new album DAMN. Other than that I been debating on when to buy tickets back to Florida to visit family because I miss them and need to go back to my essence for a quick second. I wore these black leggings with the oversized black denim jacket I designed for my last collection with Addition Elle. My booties are from Public Desire and I'm obsessed with them.

Red Trousers

"Develop success from failures. Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success." -Dale Carnegie

I'm such a fan of Marina Rinaldi. There are soooo many good pieces, especially trousers. I went on a trip a few years back to Thessaloniki, Greece and happened to be walking around and saw her store. I've been in love ever since. These red wide-cut trousers are from Marina. I threw on a wide ribbed crop top, a coat, and a pair of ankle strap black heels.

STATUS Mag

"Be true to yourself, and stick with who you are through thick and thin without letting anyone dilute your essence." -Kimora Lee Simmons

A month ago I shot with Status Magazine and did a quick little interview with them. I talk briefly about how in the beginning years of me blogging I was afraid to show certain sides of myself on my blog and different social media platforms for various reasons. I didn't want to put my personal life too out there incase things fell through and I ended up getting out of a relationship but mainly because I didn't want to scare brands off with my personality. I actually had to fight for meetings with people and would have people in the industry tell me I wasn't wholesome enough or too this or too that. It was hard finding a space for me, it still is. I'm not a cookie cutter blogger who uses the word freaking instead of fuckin or if every once in a while I want to use a rap quote in an Instagram post I can because I feel like it. It was also really hard for me going back and forth between "role model" and regular every day Nadia who wants to be petty and defend myself when someone talks out on my name. I have noticed the older I get, the more that I'm doing what I love with the people I love, the less concerned I am with what people think of me or what they're saying. I hope to always be a role model to people but I think it's important to be true to who I am, that's what I want someone to take away from seeing or being around me, even if that means you're petty somedays. I'm just so grateful to have spent that last 7 years blogging and modeling and impacting women, and hopefully some men in a positive way to feel good about themselves or work harder or break whatever barriers they're facing. I feel sort of relieved that my end goal in this industry was my own fashion line, that doesn't mean I'm going to slow down at this moment but we'll see what happens. Hope you guys love this interview and there's more pictures so I'll post those in a new post later on this week! xo

"Successful people aren't born that way. They become successful by establishing the habit of doing things unsuccessful people don't like to do. The successful people don't always like these things themselves; they just get on and do them." -Stephen Kaggwa

I did a quick run to ASOS pop up showroom last week here in LA and wore something simple, for comfort. I originally bought these olive flatforms at ALDO back in NY last September before I left for Iceland. The Marie dress from By Nadia is so easy to pair with tans and greens because it's the perfect true brown.
