Active Wear

Ahhhh. Working out. The thing I hate doing most but love the result and how it makes me feel. I use to be really active through my teenage years. I was the only girl on the Freshman football team at my high school. I use to power clean, weight lift, bench press, suicide rounds, mile runs, all of that. Now that my schedule is so hectic, I have to find time to really get my workouts in. I'm currently in LA visiting my best friend Shevah for two weeks. I'm mainly here for her but made sure I had some shoots and meetings while here because I can never fully have a vacation. I told her I wanted to hike every other day while there. My workout routine is probably one of the top questions I get daily so I'm going to make it a point to start doing more workout posts. I have to add, people always ask "how do you not have any cellulite?" I definitely do have cellulite, I don't have a ton of it but it's definitely there. All I know is it's probably genetic that I don't have a lot for the kind of legs I have. I also like wearing as little clothes as possible when I work out. For example, this Addition Elle 2 piece set which comes out in a month.

Hiking is new to me because I'm originally from Florida where there are no hills. I've come to the conclusion that my favorite part of hiking is talking to all the dogs walking by and having their owners look at me like I'm crazy. I also busted my ass like 4 times, as you can see the skid marks on my shins. Running up mountains full speed with wood chips on the ground is not a good idea. I tried being cute and having my hair halfway up for these pictures and then I got really out of breath and sweaty so I decided to put it all the way up and stop bullshitting. Cali's mountains are really pretty though. They remind me of my trip to Greece.

Okay so usually what I do is 30 minutes of straight cardio every other day. For this day in particular, I jogged 15 minutes straight, then did crossovers and side-to-sides. Crossovers are when you're running sideways but cross each foot over the other while twisting your upper body. Side-to-sides are when you run/hop sideways and your heels meet and separate. After that I power walked for 15 more minutes. Every morning I wake up and stretch so when I get to the gym I'm already stretched out. I always do a follow up stretch after I'm done working out to cool down and not stop abruptly. I advise not going to workout with your best friend because you'll already be out of breath from working out but also out of breath from laughing hysterically at the sounds effects they make while you work out.

“When your mind wants to bolt, but your heart hangs on, it is because you don’t know with absolute certainty what the truth is. When you waste so much time on something that you want to believe is true, you begin to overthink things. Eventually, something obvious becomes twisted into something absurd, which keeps us from believing a simpler answer. Over time, you believe your own lies and fantasies to shield yourself from hurt, when following what is logical would have been the quickest way to healing. It is through your own self-imposed delusions that you lose your perspective. The world then becomes different to you when in fact you are different. Why? Because your own ego gets in the way. Everyone wants to feel special. Everyone wants to have faith in others. Everyone wants to believe in fairytales, happy endings and have all bad interactions with others explained. It is easier to sit in denial with your delusions. You have commonsense and intuition, but you didn’t like how it made you feel. You sacrifice choosing to do right, in order to avoid pain. However, you don't realize that you have been in pain for a really long time and believed this was how happiness felt.” ― Shannon L. Alder

I've been home in Florida this past week. The only time I had off was last week so I spontaneously bought a ticket to Orlando the day before I went. There's something about being home that puts things into perspective for me. I can appreciate NY for what it is. I've been living there for almost 4 years and for some reason the second I stepped off the plane to Florida, I missed it more than ever. I missed the weather, the blue skies, no overcast, the grass, the birds, parking spots. I could easily move back here to buy a home. I went and laid out by the pool like a giant sloth. I went on a swan paddle boat and got out of breath quickly. I saw old friends. It has been such an amazing time. Thank you to my good friend Anthony Benitez for taking these pictures!

“If you hold back on the emotions--if you don't allow yourself to go all the way through them--you can never get to being detached, you're too busy being afraid. You're afraid of the pain, you're afraid of the grief. You're afraid of the vulnerability that loving entails. But by throwing yourself into these emotions, by allowing yourself to dive in, all the way, over your heard even, you experience them fully and completely. The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in. There are a few rules I know to be true about love: If you don't respect the other person, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. If you don't know how to compromise, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. If you can't talk openly about what goes on between you, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. And if you don't have a common set of values in life, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. Your values must be alike." -Morrie Schwartz

Ahhh. Valentine's Day. A day where I act like I don't care if I get a present but secretly do and if I don't I get pissed. haha j/k j/k. I want presents every day, not just Valentine's. The second best part of Valentine's Day is the color scheme. Pink or red, I love them both equally. The first best is obviously the candy. Tip: the day after Valentine's Day will have all the good candy 75% off, just saying. My favorite look from this mood board is the red suit on the top right. Still fits the occasion even though it's not your typical date dress. If anyone asks, on Valentine's Day I'll be home, skyping my best friend, eating a tub of ice cream. j/k...I'll be depositing checks. The 15th you'll find me at every Walgreens and Rite Aid clearing out the discounted candy.

I was 13 when I bought my first name plate. It had a X and O chain with a double stacked plate. I loved it and till this day still wear it. I have an obsession with collecting anything that has N or A on it. My key holder when you walk in to my apartment has a giant A on it. I have a jewelry box that has a N on it. Also a giant gold sequin N on my office bookshelf. Of course it was only necessary to get more Nadia name plates. These ones I got from There's definitely a variety of fonts to choose from. My favorite ones I got are below. If you want to order your own custom necklace or earrings, you can use the code "NADIA" and get 10% off! x

"Being in control of your life and having realistic expectations about your day-to-day challenges are the keys to stress management, which is perhaps the most important ingredient to living a happy, healthy and rewarding life." -Marilu Henner

I noticed I was getting sicker in 2014 because my work schedule was so crazy. I'd fly back and forth places, not get enough rest, and eat the worst "healthy" fast food. After my concussion I told myself that I'm going to start cooking, eating more organic foods, and get my health right. I hate cooking. Let me repeat. I HATE cooking. Like I would rather work out non-stop than cook. I would rather wear a pair of uggs than cook. Just kidding, I'd rather cook than wear uggs, that was me reaching but I seriously dislike cooking. I worked at a Middle Eastern restaurant from 14-21 years old so I'm over it. Anyways, I attempted Zucchini Pizza. It wasn't as disastrous as I thought it would be but glad it's over. Can't lie, I'd so rather be eating this giant strawberry pound cake behind me but healthy food will do for now. Also, I just have to say that I wish there was a behind the scenes of me trying to take these damn food pictures. They look pretty and all but I literally had to stand on a chair and put my foot on the counter for balance. It could've been a blog post in itself. "Difficulties of taking food blog pics."

2 large zucchini
1 clove garlic minced
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 cup marinara sauce (organic is what I used)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
4 portobello mushrooms
1 Tbsp of oregano
4 fresh parsley leaves
3 fresh grape tomatoes

Preheat oven to 400. Cut the zucchini in half. Then in a bowl you stir together minced garlic, olive oil, and oregano. Brush it onto the zucchini halves. Take a spoon and flood the zucchini with it. Then take the shredded cheese and try not to over do it like me. I like putting a lot of cheese because reasons. I then picked parsley and put it on top with mushrooms and tomatoes but you can really put whatever toppings you like. Bake for 15 minutes. Then shove your face and tell me about your experience.
