Cut out for it

Get Right

“You must learn to let go. Release the stress. You were never in control anyway.” ― Steve Maraboli

I haven't been on social media as much because just last week I had a concussion. My overworking and stress got the best of me, I felt lightheaded at a doctors appointment, went to walk out to get some fresh air and then blacked out. Once I hit the floor I busted my head open. My sister said my eyes were rolling in the back of my head and after about 60 seconds I woke up. Nurses were standing over me asking if I knew who I was or where I was at. After I said my name was Nadia, I felt a throbbing pain in the back of my head so I slowly reached for it and noticed I was bleeding and had a huge lump. They quickly called an ambulance. Shout out to the EMTs who carried me down 2 flights of stairs since the elevator was out, you're the real MVPs. My mom flew up from Florida to baby me back to recovery. I was incredibly sick the first 2 mornings. Nausea, dizziness, my eyes wouldn't focus on anything unless I tried really hard, I couldn't keep any food down. I was a mess but thankfully, a full week later, I'm feeling better now. You never realize how important your health is until something major happens. I promised myself when I was in the hospital that whatever I'm doing now health wise, I'd try my hardest to do better. Which comes to my detox routines.

I get countless comments, emails, and messages about what I do to stay healthy and active. One of these days I swear I'll post about my workout routines because the messages are overwhelming for my regiments. The older I get, the more I pay attention to my health and what my body is telling me. I was able to eat whatever I wanted when I was a teen and still have endless amounts of energy. For the past few years I made it a point to detox every season to rejuvenate and cleanse my body, especially after Thanksgiving and Christmas pass. I get reckless with the yams and pies. I usually do a juice cleanse for 3-5 days where I don't eat anything throughout the cleanse. It seems harsh but believe it or not, the nutrients in the juice that is all organic makes you full with tons of energy. This time I'm trying a 14 day tea-tox tea. You can still eat but all you have to do is drink a cup of it in the morning time and a cup a night. This is my second day and I'm already feeling less bloated. Cleaning always gives me a boost of energy and in these 2 days I already feel a difference. Favorite thing of all is how clear my skin looks and feels. I promise I'll keep you guys updated after the rest of my 12 days. I can't wait to finally get right. Also, me and Ace sit and stare at things outside my apartment every morning.

Fuzzy Oversized Sweater

"Sometimes being a friend means mastering the art of timing. There is a time for silence. A time to let go and allow people to hurl themselves into their own destiny. And a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when it's all over." Octavia Butler

All things go

"The more time you spend contemplating what you should have done... you lose valuable time planning what you can and will do." -Lil Wayne

I've been busier than I can handle. Last year this time I remember how slow it was for me work wise and am incredibly thankful things have picked up. The more it gets cold the more I find myself loving big coats but not wanting to wear jeans with them. I'm still trying to cope with this weather and trying to convince myself not to move back to Florida and it's warm climate.

Dusty Blue & White

"Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort." -Paul J. Meyer

ASOS man. Kills me every Winter with their amazing pieces. My pants and jacket are both from ASOS and there's nothing I love more than a good pair of skinny jeans. I love the fray hem and how they have slits here and there in the pants and not just at the knees. Dusty blue has become one of my top colors along with the blush pink that I featured a few posts back. Me and my best friend Shevah use to always thrift shop when we lived back in Florida together and I haven't really done any thrift shopping since then. While she was in town last month we made sure to hit a few spots and that's where I found this turtle neck knit top that I cut into a crop.

I see right through you

"You don't have anything to give that you don't have so you have to keep yourself full. That's your job. Your real work is to figure out where your power base is and to work on the alignment of your personality and gifts that you have to give and the real reason why you are here. I have so much to offer and so much to give and I'm not afraid to honor myself." -Oprah

Wearing all black everything is always an easy option for me. I love how with any all black look, you can take simple pieces in your closet and make them look innovative. For this outfit I took a black pencil and cut it into a mini skirt. Then I wore my bodysuit underneath it and then wore this Addition Elle belted sheer maxi skirt over it. I've been waiting for it to get a little colder to wear my sheer socks. I felt like this look was perfect for it.

On Sight

"If you start to think the problem is 'out there,' stop yourself. That thought is the problem." -Stephen Covey

I shot this skort and cape before I headed off last month to my meet and greet at Boohoo's pop up shop in NY. Right after I did the meet and greet, I flew to Manchester to meet with their team to shoot for their upcoming line in January. After shooting, I sat down with Boohoo's team of designers and we started working on my Spring/Summer 2015 capsule collection. I'm so excited for it. I've been wanting a capsule collection for as long as I can remember blogging and glad it's led to me teaming up with them. I fly back in late January to see the samples. We originally designed 40 pieces but will be narrowing them down to 20. Can't wait to show everyone when it's released in March! xx

Venus vs. Mars

“We do not see any borders from space. We just see a unique planet with a thin, fragile atmosphere, suspended in a vast and hostile darkness. From up here it is crystal clear that on Earth we are one humanity, we eventually all share the same fate.” — Alexander Gerst, Astronaut, NASA

A few days ago I had the honor of shooting with Celine from Slow Factory. Slow Factory is a boutique that creates silk scarves with images NASA's satellites took. They first caught my eye with the Gaza By Night "Peace" scarf which is a satellite shot of what Gaza looks like at night. Such a creative shop. My favorite I shot was the Mars scarves. I love what this entire brand is about. It's this entire concept of how we are all on this planet together and although we are all different, we really aren't.
