Fashion isn't always practical

"Believe in yourself, and the rest will fall into place. Have faith in your own abilities, work hard, and there is nothing you cannot accomplish." -Brad Henry

The jacket I designed for Mynt1792 is shipping out today. That means I finally get to see how all of you style it. I just got mine in the mail so you'll be seeing me do a few posts here and there, styling it various ways. It's pretty exciting having something come to life after imagining it in your head for so long. I'm really just anxious to see all of you wearing it. People expect me to always be so happy because I'm touching people's lives but it's hard to fully register it because it's through a computer. I think once I see the people who support me wearing my product, i'll probably break down in tears. haha. Be sure to send me pictures! You guys can still purchase it HERE!

"Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible." -Saint Francis of Assisi

Apologies for my absence. I'm happy to say that I have officially moved to Jersey City. A lot of packing up, shipping, u-hauling, and shopping. I've been extremely busy due to the fact that I'm one of those people where everything has to be organized and in the right place. It didn't help that it's been raining non-stop for almost 2 days. I hope everyone has fun spending time with their family. I wish I was with mine!

Making Moves

"I think that's a responsibility that I have, to push possibilities, to show people: 'This is the level that things could be at.' So when you get something that has my name on it, it's supposed to be pushing the furthest possibilities." - Kanye West

I snapped some pictures after viewing an apartment in Jersey City today. It's basically the apartment of my dreams. Tons of closet space, high ceilings, and an extra room for my office which I am desperately in need of. When I finally move in, I might do one of those house posts to give you guys a little tour. I've done a lot of thinking and LA isn't good timing for me. I must say, Jersey is so inexpensive compared to NY, so with all my extra money I'll be making plans to travel more, including LA. I haven't done a giveaway in a while so I've teamed up with Retro City Sunglasses to give away a pair of these high wire sunglasses that are pretty much everything. To enter, all you have to do is comment below with your name, email, and tell me in one sentence what you love most about yourself. I'll be picking the winner November 26th. Good luck! xo

"When the light bulb was invented, it wasn't to stop a war. I understand we've got other issues that are way bigger. So I'm not trying to say that what I'm doing is the most important thing that's happening on the planet, but what I'm saying is, what I'm doing is necessary. Just like if there's one teacher teaching in a class, what she's doing is necessary." -Kanye West

I'm honestly so grateful to have such a wide variety of followers that are all shapes and sizes. Sometimes being on the higher end of "straight size" and the lower end of "plus size" ultimately gives me an advantage because I'm able to wear more brands. I like calling it the "curvy" category. Good quality plus size clothing is already so hard to come by so I'm all about showing my readers options. I appreciate brands like Forever 21 that have both straight and plus size pieces. My top is from Forever 21's regular sizes and my skirt is also from them but their plus section.

“Giving to other people makes me feel alive. Not my car or my house. Not what I look like in the mirror. When I give my time, when I can make someone smile after they were feeling sad.” -Morrie Schwartz

Quilted Leather Pencil Skirt

"Public opinion is a weak tyrant compared with our own private opinion. What a man thinks of himself, that is which determines, or rather indicates, his fate." — Henry David Thoreau

My hair is finally getting to one length again. I'm so excited to be able to part it down the middle like I use to when I had long hair. Can we discuss this stunning quilted skirt I fell in love with? You know how there are some zippers on clothing that don't actually work and are just there for decoration? Well that's not this skirt because I'm happy to say it actually does zip totally up and down. Such a fan of anything quilted. Reminds me of Chanel bags.

Walk with a switch

"The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood. The best way to understand people is to listen to them." — Ralph Nichols

Wearing sweaters as dresses because I have a short torso? Yes please. I do it every time the temperature starts dropping. It's very rare when I wear silver jewelry but love how it looks with grey. I've been wearing white heels and white nails a lot lately.

I'm watching everyone watching me closely

"When I tell them about my dreams and they laugh, I make sure I laugh last."

This next paragraph is quotes I've accumulated over time to keep me going. They may inspire some of you like they have me. "100% set in my ways of perfecting my craft because it's for a larger purpose than any semblance of happiness that immediate gratification provides. Most people want to be successful but don't want it bad, they just kind of want it. They don't want it badder than they want to party and to be cool. Don't be afraid to make decisions. It's about how much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Pain is temporary. Something else will take its place eventually. If you quit however, it will last forever. Figuring out for yourselves what makes you happy, no matter how crazy it sounds to other people. To be able at any moment to sacrifice what you are, for what you will become. Most talent you have naturally, but skill is only developed by hours and hours of beating on your craft. When people can't do something themselves, they tell you you can't do it. You need to sacrifice almost everything to achieve your goal. When people say you're lucky, they don't know what they're talking about. Luck has nothing to do with achieving your goals. It's work. When you succeed, people will try to justify to you in a simple way why you've succeeded."

Monochromatic Burgundy

"Other people's opinion of you does not have to become your reality." -Les Brown

First time I straightened my hair in a long time. I use to do it often when I had long hair but after cutting it short, I gave up on it. Growing out my hair is such a difficult process, especially with the pixie cut I had was so many different lengths. Burgundy has always really been my go to Fall color so it's no surprise I wanted to do an all burgundy look. Don't forget you guys can still purchase the "Nadia" jacket I designed for Mynt 1792 HERE!

"People are looking for a result that is superficial. They want to look good. They dont consider that it could be done from the inside out"

I've loved these jeans all my life and really don't ever want to not have them on my body. I also shredded the back of these jeans, they don't come shredded in the back, only the front. I know it's Fall and everyone is into darker colors but it sort of makes me want to wear brighter colors even more. I recently shot with Refinery 29 and wore almost the same outfit for their book they're publishing next year. Can't wait for you guys to see it.

Clear "Nadia" Jacket Available

The clear "Nadia" jacket I designed in collaboration with Mynt 1792 is finally available for purchase (click the above)! I wanted to dedicate a post to a few things that inspired me. Early 90's definitely had a huge part as well as my childhood. This jacket was a nostalgia trip for me. Watching numerous Missy Elliott videos, the beepers my dad use to wear, and especially the jelly sandals my mom use to dress my sister and I in. It's also a plus that you can see whatever you're wearing underneath. My jacket transitions from Fall to Spring easily because of it's 3/4th zip off sleeves and detachable hood. The jacket is available now for pre-sale and will ship out November 30th! I just have one request for those who do purchase it, PLEASE tag me in the pictures of you wearing my jacket and also send me pictures if you can. I want to do a dedicated post to all of you who wear it! xo
