Sweet Berry Wine

I've decided to move to Los Angeles. I tried NY, it was real, but I need sunshine in my life. I've never been built for NY's cold weather and really think deep down that California will lead me to some great opportunities. It reminds me a lot of Florida, minus my parents being there. I want something that feels sort of like Florida, I think it will have me in a better state of mind. I'll miss the East coast and I'm sure I'll be back and forth for gigs. On sort of a similar note, a follower of mine asked me yesterday on twitter, "what keeps you going, what makes you get up and do what you have to do?" I get this question quite frequently. A lot of things keep me going, the main one being that I made a commitment with myself. There are plenty of days I don't want to get out of bed. I have every reason to give up, especially with everything happening in my life outside of the internet that you guys don't see. If I would have given up because of everything around me or people saying I couldn't do something, I would have never started. I've made it this far, so have you, so why give up now? What keeps me going is making sure my parents are well off so they don't have to keep working forever, give them back more than what they've given me. I'm a strong believer that everyone has a purpose or many purposes for being here. When you want something bad enough, you'll put in the time and energy you have to to make that work. There are many things I want to do in my time here. Helping people, feeling a sense of self accomplishment, and money are all motives. I wasted a lot of time in my younger years that I regret so I'm trying to make up for time lost. I keep going because I love learning new things, seeing how far I can push my own limits. Well, wish me luck in LA. I'm trying to move before November. If anyone knows decent areas to live that aren't super expensive or any apartments, let me know! One thing I love about Florida is the different areas to take pictures. I saw these pink apartments and jumped on the opportunity to take blog pictures here. I'm in love with Forever 21's new items. It's so difficult to find a nice pair of pants that are somewhat slouchy so I'm happy I came across these from Spiegel. PS, if anyone knows where I got the title of my blog post from, Ill love you forever haha.

Wearing: Forever 21 leather crop top, pants c/o Spiegel, colorful heels (similar)

  5. i soo get you on the whole "needing a change" thing! i recently moved from the canadian west coast to toronto after living there for six years (i lived in mexico prior to that) and it was a loong time coming. it's been a big step, especially since i moved without having a job and knowing just a few people. i still can't say that it gets better since it's only been two months and even though there are still times when i will burst into tears because i don't know why i'm here or what exactly i want to do i know that i made the right choice moving away from a place that was dragging me down and asking me to just settle for what i had. your words are what i needed to hear today and i'm sure LA will be amazing for you!
    (also, cute crop top!)

  10. Hey Nadia! I am an LA native and I love my city! There are a lot of opportunities out here, but like anywhere it depends on what it is you want. I am a fashion stylist and writer. I am also an entreprenuer, so right now my focus is my business classes so that I can open my mega laundromat (gotta have that residual income) while I pursue my film. However, I'm moving from LA to the city of Compton. Not the ghetto of Compton, West Compton to be exact. That's where I'm opening my laundromat so I figure, move to the city to get the business owner perks. And with Aja Brown (you should google her), who is African-American and the first female as the new Mayor of Compton, I want to be a part of her vision in Compton to change the image and overall governing of the city. I also want to start a program for young women about fashion, self esteem etc. But anyway, like NY if you can make it here in LA you can make it anywhere! Now I know the city pretty well. I know where the apartments are reasonable and the area is cool. I know the ghettos too. You can check out Hancock Park, it's East of Beverly Hills and in the area of The Grove (you can google The Grove). The rent would be maybe $1000 and up for a 1 bdrm. There's Mid-Wilshire, it's East of Hancock Park. The rent would be maybe $700 and up for a 1 bdrm. They have Lofts in Downtown LA. There's Marina Del Rey near the city of Venice; by Venice Beach. Santa Monica, by Santa Monica Pier and the 3rd Street Promenade. You would like these and Culver City too. LA is huge, as large as some states, so these places are all considered LA County. I know more, but this is a start. And all are a great for creative people as LA is full of creative people. I hope this helps. If you want, you can send me an email and I'll give you my number if you need more help. All the best!

  12. Love this look! I moved to LA about seven years ago, it's an amazing city I'm sure you'll love it! LA is a driving city so if you don't have a car I recommend living close to our metro line (it makes it super easy to get all over LA quickly). Downtown LA is really coming back up and you can find come awesome apartments around $1,000. You do want to check the cross streets, since some areas are still sketchy at night. I live in Koreatown which is 10-15 min away from downtown, Hollywood and Silver Lake. My place is a one bedroom for $1250 a month with utilities. There are a ton of apartments from the 1920's around here ranging from studios at $875 to one bedrooms starting at $1000. Culver City is also on the come up. Silver Lake is great too but can get expensive. Good luck with your move and if you have any questions you can email me instyleitrust@yahoo.com

  19. Hey Nadia. Check out the Southbay. Thats Torrance, Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan. They are really nice, and safe communities, which are a stark contrast to the gloom that NY carries some days. I just moved from NYC down here, and I thoroughly enjoy it. I recently discovered your blog and I think what you do should be seen by more people, you do great work. If you get a chance please check out my blog thekewrayter.tumblr.com .
