Sweet Berry Wine

I've decided to move to Los Angeles. I tried NY, it was real, but I need sunshine in my life. I've never been built for NY's cold weather and really think deep down that California will lead me to some great opportunities. It reminds me a lot of Florida, minus my parents being there. I want something that feels sort of like Florida, I think it will have me in a better state of mind. I'll miss the East coast and I'm sure I'll be back and forth for gigs. On sort of a similar note, a follower of mine asked me yesterday on twitter, "what keeps you going, what makes you get up and do what you have to do?" I get this question quite frequently. A lot of things keep me going, the main one being that I made a commitment with myself. There are plenty of days I don't want to get out of bed. I have every reason to give up, especially with everything happening in my life outside of the internet that you guys don't see. If I would have given up because of everything around me or people saying I couldn't do something, I would have never started. I've made it this far, so have you, so why give up now? What keeps me going is making sure my parents are well off so they don't have to keep working forever, give them back more than what they've given me. I'm a strong believer that everyone has a purpose or many purposes for being here. When you want something bad enough, you'll put in the time and energy you have to to make that work. There are many things I want to do in my time here. Helping people, feeling a sense of self accomplishment, and money are all motives. I wasted a lot of time in my younger years that I regret so I'm trying to make up for time lost. I keep going because I love learning new things, seeing how far I can push my own limits. Well, wish me luck in LA. I'm trying to move before November. If anyone knows decent areas to live that aren't super expensive or any apartments, let me know! One thing I love about Florida is the different areas to take pictures. I saw these pink apartments and jumped on the opportunity to take blog pictures here. I'm in love with Forever 21's new items. It's so difficult to find a nice pair of pants that are somewhat slouchy so I'm happy I came across these from Spiegel. PS, if anyone knows where I got the title of my blog post from, Ill love you forever haha.

I had the pleasure of working with a huge e-commerce thrift shop called Nifty Thrifty. The day before I left for Florida, I had a photo shoot with them. I almost died walking into their warehouse. My mom for sometime now has been telling me she "misses the old Nadia". She's basically saying I fell off wearing thrift and vintage pieces. As soon as I stepped in the building, they had racks of clothing waiting for me to style three outfits total for my photo shoot with them. I love when companies let me have creative control. Working with Nifty Thrifty really inspired me all over again. I really like taking pieces and making it my own and working with thrift clothing makes it so simple for me. I'm excited to announce on October 2nd, the pictures I took with them will drop and an entire page on their site dedicated to thrift items for sale inspired by my style. I spent all morning bleaching this skirt because it was a dark jean and I wasn't too fond of it. I distressed it a little bit too just to match this visor haha. I've been watching these Kanye West and Zane Lowe BBC interviews. Let me get back to them.

"The culture doesn’t encourage you to think about such things until you’re about to die. We’re so wrapped up with egotistical things, career, family. having enough money, meeting the mortgage, getting a new car, fixing the radiator when it breaks - we’re involved in trillions of little acts just to keep going. So we don’t get into the habit of standing back and looking at our lives and saying, is this all? Is this all I want? Is there something missing?" -Morrie Schwartz

I've finally gotten around to taking pictures out here in Florida. I've been spending most of my time really taking in all of what I took for granted before I moved to New York. Being able to lay in bed with no police sirens, no honking, no voices, just silence. The sun shines brighter, the air smells cleaner. I missed nature. I missed the smell of freshly cut grass, I missed the sound of sprinklers. I'm grateful to get this little time away from the city, from my life out there. It's pretty insane how attached I became to my phone. I was finally able to set it down and enjoy moments with friends and family. On another note, I wore this Forever 21 dress to the Socialyte Gala right before I left NY where I won an award for 'Most Original Voice'. Wine is definitely going to be my go to color for Fall. I love low cut bodycon dresses. The nude heels plays well off the dress. Can we discuss these rings? They're a perfect little reminder to love yourself. I'm off to watch the 2013 Emmy's!

Pardon my leap of absence. I'm back out here in Florida and I've been trying to take it all in. I took these pictures a month or so ago and finally decided to post them now. This is the last you guys will see of me with blonde hair. It was fun while it lasted. I'll be in Florida the next 3 weeks so I'll be sure to post more frequently. Thank you everyone for my birthday wishes. I'm officially 25 as of September 13th! xo

At First Glance - Nadia Aboulhosn

I've known Derrick Woodyard for years now. I've always loved his videos, his editing, his eye for capturing moments. It all comes so naturally to him. We've been saying for years we're going to work with each other but our schedules and my awkwardness on camera and in interviews stopped us from accomplishing anything. I also can't do any sort of shoot without dancing or making jokes which takes even longer to complete the project. I'm happy to be the first of his "At First Glance" video bio series that features individuals who are creative, inspiring, and interesting from all walks of life. He spent a few days hanging out with me. First day he showed up with mini cupcakes, next day we ate stuffed crust pizza. I can't wait to see the others he interviews! Check out his vimeo!
