How-to Style a Pixie Cut

“The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud." –Coco Chanel

I never do how-to's on my blog because it's hard to find time but I've been getting a lot of questions on how I style my hair ever since I cut it to a long pixie. It's much easier to maintain than when I had long hair down to my lower back. Although I believe I will eventually be growing my hair back out to the recent bob I had, I was ecstatic to be featured on Arrojo's Style Noted page for my step-by-step pixie process. I hope this how-to on styling my hair helps you guys!

1. & 2. I use Arrojo pomade paste to slick down the sides and back of my hair. It's important to apply it while your hair is dry, it helps better with frizz and the pieces of hair that usually blow with the wind.

3. & 4. I section off the longer top part of my hair into three separate sections. I alternate the way I apply each roller. If I apply the first roller inward, then I apply the second outward so that when I take them out, they curl different ways to create more volume.

5. & 6. & 7. I take out the three rollers and slowly run my fingers backward through the top of my hair so it looks more natural. I then use a good amount of Arrojo holding spray to keep the curls in place. While spraying, I make sure to scrunch my hair to add more height.

The Grumpy Cat

“Find your true path. It’s so easy to become someone we don’t want to be, without even realizing it’s happening. We are created by the choices we make every day. And if we take action in order to please some authority figure, we’ll suddenly wake up down the road and say, “This isn’t me. I never wanted to be this person.” -Richard Carlson

Tardar Sauce better known as the Grumpy Cat has to be one of the few things that makes me instantly smile and laugh every time I see him. I first saw him on my tumblr dashboard and once I saw the first picture, I ended up googling him for about a good hour. Since then he has become my desktop on my MacBook and the most reblogged animal on my tumblr. I found this Tardar Sauce crewneck sweater at Carraway Clothing. I can't stop incorporating cats in my wardrobe whether it be the Grumpy Cat or big cats like this Ouroboros Designs lion necklace. I haven't wore jeans on my blog in a while but these ASOS black skinny jeans are the perfect fit. It's hard to find a lot of jeans that fit nice when you have hips like mine.

Short hair, Don't care

“Everyone notices everyone else's problems but never pay attention to their own. People don't know anything about themselves because they're worried about everybody else."

I cut my hair again! I've never had my hair this short my entire life. I don't think I'm fully use to it yet, especially having to style it everyday. When I had long hair I use to just let it air dry or throw it up in a high bun. Now I have to actually spend time styling it which basically means most of the time it looks crazy. I like the recent hair cut I had the most but went to the salon to have a trim but when she cut it, it didn't have the same shape at all. Fashion week is coming up in the next few weeks so I knew I had to get it fixed and figured since it wouldn't grow back in time, I'd just cut it to something shorter. I like it this length, I'll keep it a couple months but I want to go back to my recent hair style. I saw a picture of Anne Hathaway and thought since I'm going shorter, I want her cut. I have yet to prepare anything for fashion week. I might only do a couple of days this season. I have some other projects going on that to me is more important which will keep me busy. I'm still obsessing over peplum and this dress from boohoo comes in red and a ton of other colors. I chose red because it use to be my favorite color. In my head I wore the color red out but I think I'll start incorporating it more.

Long Live Nadia

“We don't heal in isolation, but in community.” - S. Kelley Harrell

My blog hit over 2,000,000 page views today. It's so mind boggling thinking that many people actually want to look at me. I get tired of looking at my own pictures haha. Thank you to my team who has been there supporting me throughout these past years. I make sure I work hard but none of this would be possible if I didn't have you guys. The other day, a sweet girl wrote me on tumblr saying that in her opinion, I have started a fashion revolution. I can't comprehend that even ONE person thinks I'm doing that much. Once again, thank you everyone. It has been a long journey, a ton of ups and downs in which you have consistently been a part of. I've been sketching out a lot of my designs this past week. I usually get in creative sprees and then out of no where get in a slump. It's like an on and off switch. One second I can be completely inspired and then the next day I'll be blank. I watched ASAP Rocky's Love Live ASAP and my thoughts have been spiraling off that. I just wanted to say thanks, now I'm off to do more work before I end up in a slump again!

You can't treat people bad and expect good things to happen to you.

Today I went to the Bollare showroom and saw some pieces from the Rachel Pally Spring and Summer collection. She is the sweetest human being ever and told the cutest stories about her pregnant belly. The first time I heard about 17Sundays was at a get together before full figured fashion week and they instantly got my love with their gold jeans. Since then, I've been pretty much in love with them. This patterned shift dress is the perfect color for my skin complexion. I had to paint my nails just to go with the color scheme. All light blue nails with white accents. New York Fashion Week registration has already begun. Are you guys going? I am excited per usual. The winter time has me wearing pink blush with pink lip instead of bronzer. I like it for a change. I'm incredibly hopeful and have so much energy for the new year. I know 2013 is going to be a lot of positive changes. It never ceases to amaze me how much everyday is a learning experience. There isn't a doubt in my mind that the way you treat people comes back around. I believe I've succeeded because I work hard and I treat people well. Good things happen to good people, bad things have a way of coming back around to people who only care solely about themselves and will do anything morally wrong without a conscience to get there. Lets all keep that in mind.

"So I'm not trying to say what I'm doing is the most important thing that's happening on the planet. What I'm saying is, what I'm doing is necessary." -Kanye West

I've been wearing a lot of velvet lately, probably because it's winter appropriate. I was originally suppose to wear this dress to NYFW last season back in September but I didn't have these spike cap toe heels from GoJane so I refused. An outfit can only be worn the way I envision it, especially at fashion week. This dress use to be long but I brought it to the seamstress and had them take it in and up. I also told them to add the little slit for whatever reason I don't know. I figured it'd be cute haha. I didn't get to take any pictures of the back but it has a huge sheer diamond cutout.

Unreleased American Apparel photos

"What people say isn't going to stop me. I have to do things for myself." -Kate Moss

This time last year I was in Los Angeles shooting with American Apparel. It was such a fun and unique opportunity to be in such great company with so many talented people. My other pictures have been released but just found some that never have been. I was going through my room clearing out my stuff and came across them questioning why I never put them up to begin with. I'm wearing an AA stripe crop top and matching pencil skirt. I checked on their site and found the crop top and earrings still available. For New Years I ended up staying home and falling asleep. I woke up from all the fireworks going off on my block. I never wait for a new year to start new beginnings. You don't need a specific date to change your ways. Hope everyone has a great year and hope you have another prosperous one to come!
