ONLY Nadia

“You’re in the midst of a war: a battle between the limits of a crowd seeking the surrender of your dreams, and the power of your true vision to create and contribute. It is a fight between those who will tell you what you cannot do, and that part of you that knows / and has always known / that we are more than our environment; and that a dream, backed by an unrelenting will to attain it, is truly a reality with an imminent arrival.” -Tony Robbins

Those of you who follow my instagram probably know I've been obsessing over the brand ONLY NY. Klaerizm put me on a while back and since then been hooked. I was highly anticipating their store opening that was unfortunately pushed back due to Hurricane Sandy. Either way, they're open now at 176 Stanton Street. I, of course, went and checked it out. The store is so welcoming, which I don't say often about shops. I'm a fan of the entire layout, the way their items are set up and especially how the owner Micah's artwork is displayed on the wall. Everything about the store is everything...if that makes sense to you guys. I made the tank top into a crop top because it was how I envisioned me wearing it in the first place. Everyone knows I usually end up reconstructing pieces anyway. My pointy silver heels are from shoemint and sort of remind me of the mirror leather Jimmy Choo's. My skirt, which was once a peplum dress, is from

cause of all the commotion.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a great day with their loved ones. My print skirt and crop top are from I was drawn to the intricate design and color combination. The orange really goes well with grey and black. The sleeveless crop top reminded me of Whitney Eve's Spring 2013 collection. I've been packing up a little bit here and there for my move. I really can't wait to see everyone who shows up on November 30th for my little selling get together.

Brazil's Gloss Magazine

"If your success is not on your own terms, if it looks good to the world but does not feel good in your heart, it is not success at all" -Anna Quindlen

Thank you to Brazil's Gloss Magazine who did an internet feature on me a few months back and recently did a spread of me on their published magazine this month. To get an ENTIRE spread on an international magazine is difficult to fathom. I am usually incredibly hard on myself because I don't feel I'm as successful as I could or should be. Seeing two pages focused solely on myself in an entirely different language makes me realize I shouldn't be so hard on myself. Being your own worst critic is a good and bad quality. Thanksgiving is tomorrow so feel it's necessary to recognize what all I am grateful for. I give thanks to my family who has always been so supportive of me throughout so many years when I saw a vision for myself a lot of other people couldn't. I always want to say thank you so all my viewers who saw something in me that sometimes I even question. You guys never doubted me. I love all of you. Like I said in my last post, I'll be moving into a new apartment on December 1st so I rummaged through my closet and pulled out numerous things I don't need anymore. I'm having a small selling event at my place on Friday, November 30th from 5-8 pm for anyone who wants to come by and shop my closet. For the exact address, email me at! Hope to see some of you there. Everyone have an amazing Thanksgiving.

“What you think of yourself is much more important than what people think of you"

Most of the time I'm home working on projects so it's rare that I actually hang out with someone. I've noticed over time the more you are constantly around a person, the more they influence you. The way they speak, the moves they make and definitely the way they dress. The guy who does my sketches for my designs, who is also a graffiti artist, constantly wears beanies. Can you tell it's rubbed off on me? I have been on a serious apartment search this past month and finally found a cute 3 bedroom in Manhattan and officially been approved for it. Looks like I'll be moving on November 30th! I love new beginnings. Since I'll be moving, I'll be getting rid of half my closet and adding new items to my shop. What is everyone's plans for Thanksgiving? Wish I could be spending that time with my family!

focus your energy

“You control your future, your destiny. What you think about comes about. Put your future in good hands: your own." -Mark Victor Hansen

Earlier this morning I had a photoshoot with Refinery 29 for curvy blogger street style. I'm anxious to see which final shots make the cut. I've been drawn to lots of green recently, possibly because a few weeks ago when my family was in town, we took a trip to upstate New York. The scenery there was breathtaking. This color block skater dress from boohoo flatters basically all body shapes and these Matiko heels from Solestruck are the perfect height. It's been getting too cold for me to bare so close toe heels are more realistic. I get asked frequently where I get inspiration. I try to explain that it comes from anyone or anything. This and last post were influenced by that trip. The scenery slightly reminds me of 'What Dreams May Come,' which is one of my favorite movies. The entire concept of the movie is really moving and life changing. I don't want to ruin the movie for any of those who have yet to see it but love that each person's heaven and hell differed. What you imagined it to be was what it was. Your own heaven and hell were what you made it up to be in your head. That's pretty much how I think about life. Life in general is what we make it up to be. We control our choices and decisions. You can focus on the negative or you can focus on the positive. You control what controls you. Really love the entire idea behind that.

“You don't need to change your opinion. You need to stop imposing them on other people. Other people don't exist for your opinion nor does the world operate around it. Everyone has basic ownership of their beliefs. No one should be ridiculed for exercising it."

Things have been picking up for me this month. I was featured in The New York Time's style section so things have been pretty hectic. I love that New York Time's quoted me from my interview stating "If you’re fashionable, you’re fashionable regardless of size." I've been on the search for a new apartment here in the city which has consumed an enormous amount of my time. I want it to be easier for my readers to shop the clothes I'm wearing or at least something similar. From now on, the exact link to purchase the item will be pasted below. If it isn't the EXACT item, i'll paste a link to a similar item. I've been getting so many messages on where I purchased what I'm wearing so I'm trying to make it easier for my viewers. The green military style jacket has leather sleeves which go so well with my high waisted shorts. I've been seeing so many of these bat bags everywhere. My khaki wedges are MIA that I purchased from Marshalls almost a year ago so there no where to be found but these boot wedges are incredibly similar. I know, I'm in love with cats. It was only right to wear this cat crop top from 1AEON. Hope everyone had a great weekend! xo KLAE!
