For me, giving up is harder than trying. -Kanye West

I wore this cream vintage dress to my last day of New York Fashion Week. This dress reminds me of old Hollywood with the draping neckline. I bought the dress from a vintage shop here in New York and took it straight to a seamstress for alterations. The dress before fell a little below my knees. I wanted to appear taller and elongate my legs so I had them cut off about a foot. It quickly became a modern vintage mini dress. The all silk dress had a snake skin print if you pay close attention. I cinched it with a braided, skinny pastel pink belt, a brown vintage clutch, and architectural Jessica Simpson wedge heels. I decided to wear the wedges because they had the same snake skin print as the dress. It was the perfect combination. While at Lincoln Center, I ran into Mr. Newton, who takes eye opening photos for Harpers Bazaar Magazine. He was explaining to me the moment I saw him how some women, the way dress and the way they carry themselves makes it appear as if they are levitating. I know EXACTLY what he meant. He said I was one of them, which is probably one of the best compliments I've ever received. Oh how I adore that man so much. By the way, I have to add that I love Rihanna's new song Diamonds.

there is beauty in everything.

I decided to do something a little different this post. A few months back I did an interview for thegirlEs and she made these super dope graphics. I wanted to put them all up so you guys can get a better idea of where my mind is at. I'm all about uplifting and inspiring people and felt like it was greatly needed this post.

Whitney Eve Spring 2013

"I've never met a person, I don't care what his condition, in whom I could not see possibilities. I don't care how much a man may consider himself a failure, I believe in him, for he can change the thing that is wrong in his life anytime he is prepared and ready to do it. Whenever he develops the desire, he can take away from his life the thing that is defeating it. The capacity for reformation and change lies within. - Preston Bradley

While at New York Fashion Week, I attended Whitney Port's runway show Whitney Eve. It was my first time going to her show and I was pretty unsure of what to expect but after watching it, I'd wear so many pieces of hers. I love the turtle neck sleeveless crop top, pleated cinched skirt, the open back teal dress, and the super pretty printed blazers. I even paid attention to the easy to do nails her models had. The nails were a solid color with one stripe going down each nail to match the model's ensemble. She made a gorgeous white peplum dress with a sheer top that I would wear in a heartbeat. The color palette was perfect for Spring 2013. I basically all around loved her line. I was also super excited to see her models wearing gold ankle cuff-links because I had just purchased a pair earlier that week. I'll probably be wearing them to February 2014 fashion week. What do you guys think of her line?

"I am willing to put myself through anything, temporary pain or discomfort means nothing to me as long as I can see that the experience will take me to a new level. I am interested in the unknown, and the only path to the unknown is through breaking barriers, an often painful process." - Diana Nyad.

My birthday week is over, although I did much of nothing besides work haha. I still have a ton of pictures from fashion week I need to put up. Here is another outfit I wore, I believe on the third day. I told you guys previously I was going to start wearing white more because it's stepping outside of my comfort zone. I'm not too much of a fan of turtle necks either because it shortens the neck and can sometimes make people appear larger than they are. I got over all the fake 'rules' I'd make up in my head about what does and doesn't look good on me. I've always pretty much worn what I've wanted to. My sister and I decided to take a picture in the Diet Pepsi photo lounge. Is it weird that I want to wear the oversized glasses everywhere. What a coincidence that I just so happen to be wearing white to match them perfectly. I'm just saying. Thank you for all the birthday wishes! I love you guys so much. Fun fact: my subject title originates from Stack Bundles. Still my favorite rapper.

“Working hard becomes a habit, a serious kind of fun. You get self-satisfaction from pushing your self to the limit, knowing that all the effort is going to pay off.” -Mary Lou Retton

It's SEPTEMBER 13TH; MY 24th BIRTHDAY! Can we discuss how it doesn't even feel like it's my birthday? Also, I DO NOT feel like I am 24. Whenever I think of how much older I am getting, I quote Drake's 'I'm way too young to be feeling this old.' The last birthday in my head was my 19th one, but I physically and sometimes mentally feel like I'm already in my mid 30s. I wanted to put this outfit on my blog because it's the closest I have to an actual birthday suit, only cause you can see my buns haha. I wore this to the third day of fashion week. I found this dress at a thrift store and the underlining use to be a mini dress underneath the crochet. I took it to a seamstress and had them cut it to a crop top and wore high waisted underwear with it instead. I definitely reconstructed it to make it a 'Nadia dress'. It was raining a little bit outside, so I had a leopard umbrella that went perfect with it. Thank you to everyone for all the birthday wishes! It means a ton! xoxo

Jill Stuart Spring 2013 Collection

"What you wear is how you present yourself to the world, especially today, when human contacts are so quick. Fashion is instant language." -Prada

The second show I attended at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week was Jill Stuart. It was my first time attending her show and I have to say it was everything I'd imagine it to be. Flowing satin dresses, skirts and heels with a sort of high fashion preppy feel to them. My favorite piece has to be this white, odd textured, see through dress. I would wear it daily. I also couldn't stop obsessing over the heels and wedges she had on the runway. She started off with these super chunky wedges that came in black, tan, and maroon, and wrapped numerous times around the ankles. Midway through the show, the models put on super high stilettos with the same color scheme, that also wrapped around the ankles. I give props to one of the models for continuing to strut down the runway when her wedge started untying. Fashion week has come to an end but I will be posting a bunch more pictures these upcoming weeks!

“Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.” -Abraham Lincoln

Finally, my first outfit of Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week! I'm wearing a red vintage dress with structured shoulders and hips. There is also intricate feather print on it. This was my all time favorite dress in my actual closet at the moment. I had a line up of outfits for this week but for some reason, day one came, and I wasn't happy with what I originally had. I looked through my racks and pulled this dress out. It was spontaneous and perfect for the first day. Speaking of rummaging through my closet, I added some new items to MY SHOP. Have to clean out the closet for new pieces since this IS a new season. I love being able to network with people. I wanted to do a quick post so you guys can see the actual outfit, but in a few days I'll post some random pictures of me networking with fashoinistas and photographers at Lincoln Center.

Tadashi Shoji Spring 2013 Collection

“I’ve always worked very, very hard, and the harder I worked, the luckier I got.” - Alan Bond

First day of Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week and I hit the Tadashi Shoji runway show. I've been to tons of runway shows and I cannot begin to explain how he is one of my all time favorites. While heading to his show, I was interviewed by an Asian news channel and they asked me the show I look most forward to. I didn't hesitate and quickly replied Tadashi. I explained that I love how he has sample size models walking the runway, but all his dresses are designed perfectly to flatter women of all sizes. Whether you are skinny, plus size, or inbetween, Tadashi makes fairy-like pieces for every size. I anticipate his designs each season. I took a few pictures of my favorite dresses from his Spring 2013 collection. I'm sure you guys will understand why they're my favorite.
