Everyone check out my ETSY SHOP for all the new items I just put up that didn't sell at my shopping event. I'm going to start updating it more frequently. My closet is overstuffed and figure after I wear something, I'll start putting it straight on my shop. Can you believe this year is almost over? It feels like these past few months went by so fast. I usually start preparing for fashion week in January. Hopefully I can get things together in time before February because it'll be here sooner than I think. I took these pictures a few weeks back in Florida thanks to my mom. This NY weather really makes me wish I was back there!

"Happiness is not determined by what’s happening around you, but rather what’s happening inside you. Most people depend on others to gain happiness, but the truth is, it always comes from within."

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! What is everyone's plans for New Year's Eve? I've had this vintage long sleeve green velvet dress a while back at a local vintage shop in Florida. I enjoy mixing vintage and modern pieces the most in fashion. The only problem with blogging about vintage items is that the items aren't available to purchase any longer. To make it easier for you guys, I'm going to search similar items and post them. One of my favorite pieces of jewelry is this 'N' brooch. Been spending all day watching Robert Dinero movies. Pretty sure you guys don't know how infatuated I am with him. Finally got to test out my new camera lens. Here are the first pictures captured by it. Love how crisp the pictures come out.

Anyone who follows my tumblr or instagram knows I have an obsession with cats so this high low cheetah dress was only right for my body. I'm not talking about cheetah print but full fledge cheetahs being printed on this dress. I wore it once to the Wendy Williams show and got a ton of questions on where I got it from so the link is below for any of you that are just as obsessed with cats as I am. I do not care how dangerous any large cat is, cheetah, lion, lynx, I want them all. When I was growing up, all my mom allowed was cats in our household, lots of them. I had no problem not having a dog. Sometimes I feel like I'm one of those old crazy cat ladies, which is also fine with me. I just bought a new camera lens last night that I can't wait to test. Next blog post I'm sure you'll be able to notice the difference, compare the quality to these pictures to the new ones. These ankle booties look high but are super comfortable to walk in. I've been writing an article for The Huffington Post about body image and the more I really sit and think about society and the media's affect on how people feel about themselves really upsets me. Making this post real quick because I'm in the process of finishing up this article. Hope everyone has a happy holiday! xo

building an empire

“Everybody look at you strange, say you changed, like you work that hard to stay the same.” -JayZ

I took these pictures last week when I was in Florida. It was so much fun seeing my best friend Shevah who runs her own vintage shop called Vacant Moon Vintage. I kept it a secret that I was coming, which is the hardest thing to do when you tell your best friend almost everything. The same day I flew into Florida, I took a picture of myself standing below her street sign, added it to instagram and tagged her name so she'd instantly see where I was. Three minutes later, I see her running outside her front door in excitement. Her jaw dropped and eyes got bigger than they already are (she has oversized Persian eyes). I basically jumped out of the car and balled my eyes out. I went up to her room where she has racks of vintage items and this teal sheer top instantly caught my eye. I knew I needed to do a post with it. The warm weather in Florida really let me go back to wearing what I want, barely anything. Shevah has to be the only one who has continuously been there for me. In the fashion world, a lot of people aren't sincere. It's refreshing having someone there beside you who has seen your success from the start. She has to be the only one close enough to me to hold any weight. I've had plenty of people throughout the years tell me I've 'changed', I'm not who I use to be as if changing my actions were for the worse. I let people think what they may. I can honestly say, when I do reach the level of success I want, her and my family will be the only ones seeing all of it. I love you. xo

lace peplum tadashi shoji dress

The first step before anybody else in the world believes it, is you have to believe it. There is no reason to have a Plan B because it distracts from Plan A. -Will Smith

Every season I go to fashion week, I always attend Tadashi Shoji's runway line. He is hands down one of my top designers because he creates dresses that flatter all body shapes. I think it's important as a designer to create pieces in all sizes. All women, no matter how big or small, want to feel good in their skin and clothes. The overlaying of lace on this Tadashi peplum dress is gorgeous. I've always been of fan of nude and black together. My pearl drop earrings were given to me by my grandmother right before I moved to New York. They're pretty amazing. The intricate detail on my dress made me tone down my accessories. Kept my nails and steve madden heels nude.

Complex's Top 10 Hottest Plus Size Models

“Every single life only becomes great when the individual sets upon a goal or goals which they really believe in, which they can really commit themselves to, which they can put their whole heart and soul into.” -Brian Tracy

Is this real life? Did I really just make Complex Magazine's Top 10 Hottest Plus Size Models? It seems like it's too good to be true. I couldn't be happier. I made number 8 out of all these beautiful ladies who have covered publications like Vogue Italia. Thank you to Complex for even considering me, James Harris for writing the article and everyone who has been congratulating me. Not only did I make the 8th spot but they put me on the cover of the entire article. Everyone check it out, Nadia Aboulhosn for Complex Magazine.

“When people want to be liked for what they did, they should stop.” ― Karl Lagerfeld

I arrived in Florida last Thursday for a short three day vacation. It was pretty much spur of the moment. My sister had a flight for her birthday so she was already here when my dad randomly texted me telling me to look up tickets for the weekend so I can be home with the whole family. He loves me. I've missed almost everything about Florida. My family and select friends, the warm weather and not having to worry about putting enough layers of clothes on. I really took for granted the little things while living here. When I stepped foot back on Florida ground, I'd dodge the shade and run to every spot of sun I saw. I've also taken for granted the greenery, being able to look in all directions to see grass and full trees instead of cement and more cement. Since moving to New York I find myself zoning out more, not appreciating every day, not really living in every moment. The zoning out where you stare at nothing sort of in a daze like a zombie, dead thoughts. Everything has become routine. Work, work, and some more work. I can't see myself ever fully adapting to New York. On another note, I was able to take some pictures while out here. My one piece peplum jumpsuit is from ASOS. I knew I wanted to do a 50's inspired look when I saw it. Cat eye sunglasses, a red lip with a gold and black Chanel scarf tied around my head. I first ordered these black finger gloves for last fashion week but never got around to pairing them with anything. Speak of fashion week, I'll be preparing outfits pretty soon for February!

"The meeting of preparation with opportunity generates the offspring we call luck." -Tony Robbins

I had the privilege of attending the Stoli event last Thursday the 29th at Studio 450 for orgnl.tv. There was a live performance by Nina Sky, who ended up singing one of my throwback songs, 'hold you down'. There was an art exhibit by Jeremyville and Charlie Becker. The line up of models in the picture below was a presentation by Nary Manivong. I couldn't take my eyes off of the lime green structured dress. I think it's important to appreciate all forms of art whether if be music, fashion, photography and media. What I really enjoyed the most about the entire night was spending time with my sister and close friends. I never really go out often because I'm pretty slammed with work so it was nice for a change to get out, dance a little and meet people. The view on the rooftop had the red lit Empire State building in sight. The DJ played Big L and Biggie Smalls at one point which shocked me but of course had me extremely hype. Good music and good people. This gorgeous lady in blue below came and asked if I was Nadia. She told me how much she loved my blog and I couldn't thank her enough. It's always so touching that people even recognize me or spot me out. I love getting to meet the people who support me, it means everything to me. I basically want to say thank you to Daniel and Rebecca of Socialyte for the invite. I had so much fun. Also, happy birthday to my sister Alya! I love you. xo

I had a little shopping event at my old apartment this past Friday, November 30th. I had some lovely ladies show up who I had so much fun with! Thank you to all of you who stopped by and showed support! Hope you love wearing the clothes.

“You’re in the midst of a war: a battle between the limits of a crowd seeking the surrender of your dreams, and the power of your true vision to create and contribute. It is a fight between those who will tell you what you cannot do, and that part of you that knows / and has always known / that we are more than our environment; and that a dream, backed by an unrelenting will to attain it, is truly a reality with an imminent arrival.” -Tony Robbins

Those of you who follow my instagram probably know I've been obsessing over the brand ONLY NY. Klaerizm put me on a while back and since then been hooked. I was highly anticipating their store opening that was unfortunately pushed back due to Hurricane Sandy. Either way, they're open now at 176 Stanton Street. I, of course, went and checked it out. The store is so welcoming, which I don't say often about shops. I'm a fan of the entire layout, the way their items are set up and especially how the owner Micah's artwork is displayed on the wall. Everything about the store is everything...if that makes sense to you guys. I made the tank top into a crop top because it was how I envisioned me wearing it in the first place. Everyone knows I usually end up reconstructing pieces anyway. My pointy silver heels are from shoemint and sort of remind me of the mirror leather Jimmy Choo's. My skirt, which was once a peplum dress, is from boohoo.com.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a great day with their loved ones. My print skirt and crop top are from boohoo.com. I was drawn to the intricate design and color combination. The orange really goes well with grey and black. The sleeveless crop top reminded me of Whitney Eve's Spring 2013 collection. I've been packing up a little bit here and there for my move. I really can't wait to see everyone who shows up on November 30th for my little selling get together.

Brazil's Gloss Magazine

"If your success is not on your own terms, if it looks good to the world but does not feel good in your heart, it is not success at all" -Anna Quindlen

Thank you to Brazil's Gloss Magazine who did an internet feature on me a few months back and recently did a spread of me on their published magazine this month. To get an ENTIRE spread on an international magazine is difficult to fathom. I am usually incredibly hard on myself because I don't feel I'm as successful as I could or should be. Seeing two pages focused solely on myself in an entirely different language makes me realize I shouldn't be so hard on myself. Being your own worst critic is a good and bad quality. Thanksgiving is tomorrow so feel it's necessary to recognize what all I am grateful for. I give thanks to my family who has always been so supportive of me throughout so many years when I saw a vision for myself a lot of other people couldn't. I always want to say thank you so all my viewers who saw something in me that sometimes I even question. You guys never doubted me. I love all of you. Like I said in my last post, I'll be moving into a new apartment on December 1st so I rummaged through my closet and pulled out numerous things I don't need anymore. I'm having a small selling event at my place on Friday, November 30th from 5-8 pm for anyone who wants to come by and shop my closet. For the exact address, email me at nadiaaboulhosn@yahoo.com! Hope to see some of you there. Everyone have an amazing Thanksgiving.

“What you think of yourself is much more important than what people think of you"

Most of the time I'm home working on projects so it's rare that I actually hang out with someone. I've noticed over time the more you are constantly around a person, the more they influence you. The way they speak, the moves they make and definitely the way they dress. The guy who does my sketches for my designs, who is also a graffiti artist, constantly wears beanies. Can you tell it's rubbed off on me? I have been on a serious apartment search this past month and finally found a cute 3 bedroom in Manhattan and officially been approved for it. Looks like I'll be moving on November 30th! I love new beginnings. Since I'll be moving, I'll be getting rid of half my closet and adding new items to my shop. What is everyone's plans for Thanksgiving? Wish I could be spending that time with my family!
