unavoidable.

"Reality is always in front of our eyes, some people just choose not to see it"

These high waisted Style&Co shorts use to be pants, but of course I cut them. Once again, like I've said before, I think I'll always wear tribal prints. I love combining different colors and what better way than with this tribal top. So I have come to the conclusion that I'm going to make New York one of my top priorities. Master plan in the near future is to find a good enough job FASHION related, in the city, that pays well enough to live on my own. Once that happens, i'll make the actual move to New York. I feel like in order to be successful in this fashion industry, you have to dedicate the majority of your time and energy into it. So moving to NY is a must..it needs to happen already! Wish me luck darlings!

playtime is over.

"The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were intended to be" -Oprah

First off...I have to tell everyone the exciting news! I was 1 of the 10 people chose for American Apparel's XL Next Big Thing modeling contest! You guys can check out the 10 winners, including myself HERE! I've never been too fond of the color blue, but for some reason I've been wearing it A LOT lately. I've had this dress in my closet for a long time now but just never used it so I decided to throw it with this sheer blue blouse that I thrifted. I'm also not too fond of pointy like heels. I usually like huge platform heels, but for some reason I fell in love with these blue ones when I saw them! They remind me sort of Christian Louboutins plain patent heels, the shape of them atleast. So I wore this outfit to meet a few people from Ashley Stewart who were all super sweet! This Friday I will be meeting up with them again for a photoshoot that is taking place and I'm SOOOOO excited that they are letting me style one of the models to represent MY style! I'll be sure to have pictures of me and my model in a few months to come, just wait for it haha. My huge gold earrings and bracelet are also from Ashley Stewart! They have the most amazing jewelry I swear!

stuck between fantasy and whats real.

"If you take responsibility for yourself you will develop a hunger to accomplish your dreams" -Les Brown

I love sheer. This skirt's inner lining was the same length as the sheer but decided to cut the inner lining short and keep the sheer long for a different look. My wedges are Steve Madden. Still here in New York for fashion week and I'm loving every second of it! Just being here reassures me that fashion is the only career for me and this is where I need to be. It was so exciting meeting some of the people I have. There are so many things I have learned from these experiences. Work hard, do what you love, believe in yourself, do things outside of your comfort zone, but most of all, be appreciative. Attending some of the events I have, I saw a lot of bloggers who have taken fashion to the head and treat their followers/fans like nobodies. There is no doubt that I am confident, some say conceited, and those labels I can live with. But one thing I could never live with is being rude to my followers, the people who genuinely love me. Bloggers need to always keep in mind that if it wasn't for your fans, you wouldn't be where you're at today. So you're damn right my fierce ass walked RIGHT past all the more popular bloggers and acted like they didn't exist because in reality they don't exist in MY life. Plus, I don't need negative people in my life who are ungrateful. So thank you to all my followers and I'm privileged to have met some of you while being here. Some were shy or afraid to approach me and say oh...you're Nadia, I love you. Don't be shy or afraid! I'm only a bitch when I need to be, other than that, I'd never be rude or ungrateful to my followers. You guys have been more supportive of me than some of my past friends, and believe in me probably more than I believe in myself so THANK YOU. I sometimes look angry in my pictures, but in real life, trust me...I'm all smiles and hugs haha. I was also in Seventeen's online magazine for create a look under $17. Check it out HERE!

in the streets of New York.

"Let us not look back in anger, nor forward in fear, but around in awareness" -James Thurber

Fashion week for me has been pretty hectic although I love it! Usually when I come to New York I'm always driving around so I never get a real feel of the city, the diversity, and what it has to offer. But this trip I have been trying to take it all in any way possible. Public transportation, subways (finally figured them out), walking blocks, putting my life in the hands of New York cab drivers haha. I wanted to really experience the city even though I come out here almost 5 times a year, but what better way to capture New York than through the eyes and lens of Emil Baez who is a New Yorker himself. You guys can go check out his blog and photogrphy HERE! I never take night pictures because I'm real specific about what I put on my blog but I figured I'd do something different =] I couldn't wait to wear this dress for fashion week, I bought it from a thrift store and it use to all be one length but decided to switch it up and bring it higher in the front and keep it dropped in the back. This dress so far definitely has received the most compliments! It's one of my favorites.

looking like wealth.

"In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure" -Bill Cosby

Last week I flew into New York to attend fashion week. It's only been one day so far and I have already met some amazing people. Today I went to the Independent Fashion Blogger Conference wearing this black velvet sheer panel dress that I made shorter than it originally was. I also did this DIY feather hat. I'm in love with feathers! I got to meet some of my followers at IFBcon. Made me realize how much I appreciate them and their support for me. I'm attending fashion night out tomorrow and can't wait for it! Hope to see some of you out there! I was featured on Jolie.de street style again..check it out HERE! I want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to SKORCH magazine for featuring me on the cover of their online magazine for the September 2011 issue...everyone go check it out HERE!
